Ronald Bergquist

Ronald E. Bergquist (Ice Man/Berky), 69, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on November 5, 2021.

Ron was born in Topeka, Kansas to Raymond and Georgianna (Korbe) Bergquist on September 14, 1952. He grew up with twin brother, Donald, as well as his sister, Raeanne (Smith). Ron graduated from Highland Park High School in 1971. He also had additional education at Kaw Area Technical School. After graduation, Ron enlisted in the US Navy as a CB (SeaBees). While in the Navy, he gained experience in refrigeration. He was discharged in 1978.

Ron married Debrah F. Kirkpatrick (Lewis) on May 9, 1975. They had two sons, Dustin (43) and Brian (38). He had 2 grandchildren, Alexis (25) and Alyssa (10). Ron then married Judi Kalina on October 10, 2010. Judi had 3 children, Jason (40), Joshua (deceased), and Jamie (31). Grandchildren include Jorden, Dominic, Jeremiah, Joshua, Amme, Lilian, Giovonni, Hope, and Gavin. Ron and Judi have since divorced. He had many nieces and nephews who were also dear to him.

Ron retired from Stormont-Vail maintenance after 28 years of service. He also had his own business, Ron's Ice Machines, installing and repairing ice machines as well as HVAC/plumbing work for many Topeka businesses.

Ron's most favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing. He loved riding his motorcyle as well as his hot rod. Ron also was quite the chef, making favorites such as deer jerky and apple pie. He enjoyed spending time in his yard doing gardening. He loved spending time with his sons as well as his grandchildren. He, of course, loved spending time with his twin brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A gravesite service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetary, 17th & Fairlawn, on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 10:00 am. There will be a Celebration of LIfe on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 2:00-6:00 pm at the VFW, 3110 SW Huntoon St in Topeka, Kansas. His family will be present to welcome loved ones.
