Keith Burd

Keith Douglas Burd passed away on March 20, 2019, in Reno, Nevada. He was born to Robert and Helen
Burd on July 15, 1953 in Topeka, Kansas. Keith was raised in Topeka and graduated from Highland Park High School. 

He later moved to Denver, Colorado, where he worked with Denver Gold and Silver Exchange for many years. After that he returned to Topeka and opened The Aspen Leaf store. Following his dream, he then moved to Grand Lake, Colorado, a skiing community, where he owned and operated The Village Bakery and Deli. Although a successful business, health issues forced him to leave the deli. He moved to Reno, Nevada where he was employed at Grand Sierra Nevada Casino for 21 years in casino surveillance. He married Joy Piepmeier in Reno. They later divorced.  

Keith was an avid fan of the Kansas Jayhawks. He was interested in most sports, and participated in golfing for many years.

Keith is survived by sisters, Delores (Dodie) Gibbs and Deb Burd; Sister-in-law, Connie Burd; brother, Robert Burd; ex-spouse, Joy Piepmeier Michaelson; stepson, Eric Piepmeier; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Wayne Burd and parents Robert and Helen Burd.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Highland Heights Christian Church, 4803 SE 29th St., Tecumseh, KS 66542. Luncheon will follow with a time for sharing memories. 

The family suggests that contributions be made to charities of choice or Highland Heights Christian Church, 4803 SE 29th St., Tecumseh, KS 66542.
